Maladaptation of Right Ventricle to High Pulmonary Hypertension in an Adult Patient with Patent Ductus Arteriosus

چکیده
Pulmonary arterial hypertension is an obstructive pulmonary vasculopathy and the RV considered a major determinant of survival in patients with precapillary hypertension. The transition from adaptive to maladaptive phenotype remains poorly understood clinically unpredictable. Several mechanisms having been suggested right heart disease but causes cardiac remodeling remain unknown require further research. We report case PAH context overlooked patent ductus arteriosus adulthood consequences.

Nonsurgical Closure of Oversized Patent Ductus Arteriosus with Pulmonary Hypertension
Safe and permanent closure of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) can be accomplished with an ivalon plug introduced by catheterization from the femoral artery. The authors' experience thus far obtained from treating more than a hundred patients suggests that the technique described in this paper is a feasible alternative to the surgical approach. A prerequisite has been the size and shape of the PD...
متن کاملPatent ductus arteriosus associated with pulmonary hypertension and desaturation.
We present the cases of three children with patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), and desaturation. One of them had desaturation associated with atrial septal defect (ASD). His ASD, PAH, and desaturation improved after successful device closure of the PDA. The other two had desaturation associated with Down syndrome. One had desaturation only at room air oxygen ...
متن کاملA rare presentation of patent ductus arteriosus in an adult patient with normal pulmonary hypertension and limb edema
BACKGROUND Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) at childhood is one of the five major and frequent congenital abnormalities, but it can be rarely seen in adults. Pulmonary hypertension (PHTN) and other presentations such as heart failure and edema are the identified complications of longstanding PDA, but adult case with no permanent heart symptoms and PHTN was rare. We reported a rare case of with an...
متن کاملClosure of patent ductus arteriosus with oversized Amplatzer occluder in a patient with pulmonary hypertension
Diagnosis of patent ductus arteriosus is rare in adulthood. Closure of ductus is difficult when diagnosed at an adult age due to the development of pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary arterial disease that generally occurs. Closure of the ductus might be contraindicated, as it may lead to deterioration of the pulmonary arterial perfusion or to a pulmonary hypertensive crisis. In addition, anot...
